We're Loving Color!
An Adventure in Color
Learn all about color theory, how colors work together, what hue and luminosity mean and more. You will learn about color and how it relates to your quilts as we explore color basics, the color wheel, color scales and how to use them and so much more.
This in-depth course is 13 months long, beginning May 20, 2014 and ending May 2015. You will meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6-9 pm. We've offered this before, and it's an excellent class. Just ask some of the quilting Alumni!
And apparently, we're not the only ones loving the one block wonder! We're offering a second class!
The One Block Wonder Quilt!
This is a 3 Class Series:
Class 1: Tuesday, May 27. Choose your session: 2-4pm or 6-8pm
Class 2: Saturday, June 14, 9am til 4pm
Class 3: Saturday, July 19, 9am til 4pm
You must come to all three classes to complete the project. The fee is $50.
These are not new to the quilting world, but this spring will be the first time we offer a class featuring this technique. The most amazing feature of these quilts is that they are made from one block, and one fabric. Hard to believe of course, but true. Even the 3-D blocks are part of the same block, but are made from a second fabric. The quilt above was made from the fabric at the left. Usually it's nearly impossible to pick out the original fabric, so it's often used as the backing--and interesting way to compare when the quilt if all finished.
Carol Thurston will be the instructor, and she is planning teaching the "kaleidoscope" method for the blocks, as well as how to integrate the 3D blocks. You may choose your favorite. She will be using One Block Wonders book, which is required for the class. Here's a quick look at what others are doing with this technique: One Block Wonders
